5 ECTS; 2º Ano, 1º Semestre, 30,0 T + 30,0 TP + 4,50 OT , Cód. 912313.
Lecturer
- Maria Helena Morgado Monteiro (1)(2)
(1) Lead Professor
(2) Teaching Professor
Prerequisites
Not applicable.
Objectives
Extend students' knowledge about the differential and integral calculus so they can formulate, analyze and solve problems which are related to:
a) The effect of vector fields in the movement of particles.
b) The behavior of physical phenomena when their variation rates and restrictions are known.
Program
1. Vectorial calculus - vectorial functions, line integrals, surface integrals;
2.Differential equations - first-order differential equations and linear differential equations of order n, Laplace?s transform, linear differential equations systems.
Evaluation Methodology
Ongoing assessment: Three presentations and two written tests, all graded from 0 to 20 points. A student is exempt from the exam if they attended the presentations, obtained a grade higher than 4 in each test, and the sum of 20% of the average of the presentations plus 80% of the average of the tests is equal to or greater than 10.
Assessment by exam: a written test, graded from 0 to 20 points, covering all the material taught or, in the regular exam, only one of the chapters, the latter case for students who obtained 10 or more points in the test related to the other chapter. The student passes if they obtain at least 10 points on the exam.
When the teacher has doubts about the veracity, authorship, or basis of the answers presented by a student in a written exam, they may, before the release of the assessment schedule, call the student for an oral, public exam with a panel, in order to confirm the method, reasoning, or procedure used in solving the questions in question. Failure to attend, refusal to cooperate, or inability to adequately justify the solutions presented may result in a review of the grade or the annulment of the exam.
