6 ECTS; 2º Ano, 1º Semestre, 28,0 T + 42,0 TP , Cód. 91127.

Lecturer
- Eugénio Manuel Carvalho Pina de Almeida (1)(2)
- Raul Manuel Domingos Monteiro (2)

(1) Lead Professor
(2) Teaching Professor

Prerequisites
Not applicable.

Objectives
A-The students should acquire the basic concepts to understand electromagnetic phenomena
B-Be able to apply them in different areas of electrical engineering.

Program
Module I
1-Magnetic Fields and Their Sources
2-Faraday’s Law and Electromagnetic Induction
3-Maxwell’s Equations. Propagation of Electromagnetic Waves
Module II
4-Single-Phase Sinusoidal Alternating Current.
5-Circuits with Single-Phase Sinusoidal Alternating Current.
6-Three-Phase Systems.

Evaluation Methodology
Continuous Assessment:
A knowledge assessment test (T/TP) at the end of each module. The Module I assessment (graded on a scale of 0–20) accounts for 40% of the final attendance-based grade; the Module II assessment (graded on a scale of 0–20) accounts for 60% of the final attendance-based grade.
Final Written Exam:
(Exam or Retake Exam) covering the entire course material (Module I and Module II), where the Module I assessment accounts for 40% of the final exam grade and the Module II assessment accounts for 60% of the final exam grade.
Oral Assessment:
Whenever answers are found whose structure/format, results (and errors) are clearly identical among two or more students, or answers do not align with the course’s teaching methodology, students will be required to take an oral assessment within the following 48 hours, and the final grade will be the weighted average of the coursework/exam grade and the oral assessment grade.
