Objectives
By the end of the module, students should be able to:
Identify and describe the fundamental principles of quality management systems;
Interpret the applicable regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO standards), as well as certification and accreditation processes;
Apply methodologies for implementing quality management systems within an organisational context;
Analyse the integration of the concept of quality within organisations, assessing its impact on processes and outcomes;
Propose quality improvement measures, based on best practice and appropriate tools.

Evaluation Methodology
Continuous assessment:
The assessment of learning covers the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and the development of practical skills in the field of quality management systems.
Assignment and report (50 per cent): this assesses the ability to apply quality management concepts, particularly in the analysis of systems and the proposal of improvement measures, preferably within a real organisational context.
Class participation (50 per cent): this is designed to assess the acquisition and understanding of fundamental concepts, approaches to quality, as well as certification and accreditation processes.
Assessment during the regular examination period and resit period:
Written examination (100%): assesses students understanding of the principles of quality management systems, their interpretation of standards, and their ability to analyse situations within an organisational context.
