Objectives
• O1. Understand the evolution of the concept of Cultural Heritage; • O2. Acquire fundamental knowledge of the evolution of Cultural Heritage protection policies; • O3. Analyze the current ontological complexities of Cultural Heritage; • O4. Debate the interconnection between Cultural Heritage and the contemporary artistic and cultural creation; • O5. Deepen the relationship between Cultural Heritage and the ecological environment;

Program
C1. The evolution of the concept of Cultural Heritage. Contributions from: • Art History, • Aesthetics, • Archaeology, • Conservation and Restoration; C2. The evolution of Cultural Heritage protection policies: • the French Revolution; • the Gothic Revival in England; • UNESCO; • the Portuguese case; C3. The current ontological complexities of Cultural Heritage. Cultural Heritage as: • object; • event; • process; • performance; • experience; C4. The interconnection of Cultural Heritage with contemporary artistic and cultural creation: • The use of new technologies for the creative conservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. • Eco Cultural Identity • Data-driven digital visualization and sonification. • Immersive and expanded formats; • From contemplation to experimentation of cultural heritage;

Evaluation Methodology
The assessment of this curricular unit will consist of the Proposal (10%), Realisation (70%) and Presentation (10%) of a theoretical or theoretical-practical project centred on a chosen topic, related to the areas of knowledge of the curricular unit. The project may consist of a written work or reflection, as well as of an exhibition, artistic creation, or other type of intellectual expression, among other possibilities. There will also be an assessment component centred on active participation during the sessions (10%).

Bibliography

Teaching Method
The course will be organised in presentation and discussion sessions on the proposed topics, which will include analyses of real cases of cultural heritage policies at national and international level.
