Objectives
A-Identify and distinguish the different assumptions that define the domains of semantics and pragmatics.
- Deepen knowledge about lexical semantics and their relationships;
- Acquire knowledge about logical-formal and compositional semantics and the concept of signification;
- Acquire knowledge about the properties and relationships of meaning;
- Deepen and acquire knowledge of pragmatics, its conceptualization and autonomy as a scientific area of discourse grammar and verbal interaction;
- Recognize the importance of context.
B- To develop critical capacity and the learning of rigorous methods of linguistic practice and analysis, in the two areas of linguistic sciences

Introduction
1. Semantics;
1.1. Object of study of Semantics, operative concepts and principles.
1.2. Informational significance
1.3 Sentence and proposition.
1.4 Relations and properties of meaning.
1.4.1. Semantics of truth conditions
1.5.Cohesion and coherence.
2. Pragmatics.
2.1. Object of study of Pragmatics and operative concepts.
2.2. Sentence and Utterance
2.2.1. Theory of Discourse Acts.
2.1.2.. Constative statements and performative statements.

Evaluation Methodology
Evaluation by Frequency (continuous and cumulative):
- Two tests: minimum grade of each of the tests - 8 Values
- 1- Written Test (45%)
- 2- Oral Test (40%)
- Written or oral assignments developed in class (15%) (at least 5 assignments)
Weighted average of all elements. The lack of an evaluation element leads to the final exam.
Students who in an evaluation by attendance obtain a grade equal to or greater than 10 points are exempt from the Exam.
Evaluation by Exam:
The exams consist of a Written Test (60%) and an Oral Test (40%), final grade of at least 10 points.
In the Special Examination Period, the definition of the Evaluation by Exam applies.
Student-workers: they must contact the teacher during the first two weeks of classes to find out about her form of evaluation.
Erasmus students: they should contact the teacher during the first two weeks of classes to find out about their form of evaluation.
In all Evaluation periods:
The student obtains approval to the UC, in accordance with the provisions of Points 11 and 12, of Article 11, of the IPT Academic Regulation.
