Objectives
a) To understand the phenomena of communication from a Sociological perspective embodied in the Founding Theories of Sociology;
b) To acquire the methodologies and theoretical concepts that allow the interpretation of sociological communicational phenomena in today's society, identifying and recognizing the role of
Sociology and Communication in the construction of the social world;
c) To develop analytical and reflective skills through the acquisition of knowledge about the construction of the sociological object and the social production of communication.
Program
1. Representations: Language and Society
- The world as Social Construction/narratives as elements of representation/Social memory as representation
2. Sociology and Communication: the return to the Founders
2.1. Durkheim - The Social Facts/ Mechanical and Organic Solidarities/State of anomie/ The Sociological Method;
2.2. Weber- Sociological Understanding/ the meaning of social action/ the forms of Power;
3. Bourdieu: Social Space and Lifestyles/Capitals/Social Fields and Symbolic Power;
4. The Social Production of Information; - Main actors and communicative strategies;
5. Photography as an object of Sociology: Incursions into the idea of Sociology of Image and Photography.
Evaluation Methodology
Evaluation by frequency (Continuous and cumulative
- Thematic discussions - 20%
- Individual Analysis Work - 40% (minimum grade 9)
- Theoretical written test - 40% (minimum grade 8)
Final evaluation
Exam - written test + oral test (50% + 50%)
- The evaluation is made in accordance with the provisions of Article 11 of the Academic Regulation of IPT Schools. Students who in an evaluation by attendance obtain a grade equal to or greater than 10 points are exempt from the Exam.
