Objectives
Students are expected to:
(a) Understand the definition of an information system, as well as identify information systems for human resource management and their application modules;
(b) Analyze and understand the importance of Employee Relationship Management (ERM) for human resource management;
(c) Describe the different models in the planning and implementation of an information system, and identify the challenges inherent to them;
(d) Be able to plan, create, and use databases in operational (OLTP systems) and analytical (OLAP systems);
(e) Understand the importance of Business Intelligence (BI) and identify the phases of implementing a BI process in the human resources area, from information modeling to the production of reports and other analysis processes.

2. Planning and Implementation of an Information System
- Development Models;
- Challenges in Implementing an Information System.
3. Types of IS
- Database Management System (DBMS);
- Operational Systems (OLTP) and Analytical Systems (OLAP);
- Data Warehouse (DW) Systems;
- Characteristics and Architecture of a DW;
- From the Relational Model to the Dimensional Model;
- DW Implementation Models.
4. Business Intelligence (BI) Systems for Human Resources
- BI Architecture for Human Resources;
- Analysis of the BI Data Model for Human Resources.
Evaluation Methodology
The assessment by attendance for the subject consists of carrying out a final assessment project (100%). The student obtains approval in the course unit, being exempt from the exam, in accordance with the provisions of Points 11 and 12 of Article 11 of the IPT Academic Regulations.
The assessment by exam/resit exam consists of carrying out a practical project (100%). The student obtains approval in the course unit, in accordance with the provisions of Points 11 and 12 of Article 11 of the IPT Academic Regulations.

Teaching Method
The teaching and learning methodologies used involve theoretical presentations, practical exercises, demonstrations, and tutorial guidance. The knowledge acquired will be assessed through an evaluation project.
